I’m willing to bet that if you have a Pinterest account, you’ve seen some inspiring cane furniture around the internet. It’s making a comeback, and we couldn’t be more excited. There is something about caning that adds a natural feel to any space while not making it inherently bohemian or casual the way rattan can sometimes come off.
Now, often cane is thought of to be from the Colonial times and while that is true - that’s really when it hit its stride, it’s actually from way, way, way before that. In fact, in Peru a cane coffin holding a Moche Princess was discovered and believed to have been buried around 750 AD. Isn’t that incredible?
But if we skip forward to now, we’re seeing a huge resurgence of cane and cane used on overly modern frames. It’s the juxtaposition of old and new, traditional and modern that make most of these pieces really shine.
We’ve been pinning, enjoying and actually ordering some of these pieces for clients, so we thought we’d share a this look we love. Enjoy!
We’ve seen a large variety of cane products hitting the market in the last little while. There are a ton of higher-end options but we’ve also seen more accessible items in stores like Target, Urban Outfitters and more. So, we’d love to know, have you got your hands on a new cane piece? Are you loving the trend? Let us know in the comments!
