We love to shop locally and try to do it whenever possible. However, sometimes it’s harder to #shopsmall when it comes to furniture pieces. We’ve got a treat in store for you today with a female-owned LA-based furniture company; Faithful Roots! We have purchased their products for many projects, and absolutely love their eye and what they do! We know that you are going to love this feature. Enjoy!

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your background:
Born and raised up and down the west coast, I settled in LA over 15 years ago because of its rich cultural arts scene and endless possibilities. I opened my store back in 2013 mostly selling vintage pieces. Over the years I discovered my love for designing furniture while cultivating relationships with local craftsmen to establish myself as a go-to furniture designer. It’s so rewarding to be able to work for myself, it allows me to live my life on my terms, I’m able to travel and be with family, but it also challenges me in ways I never expected.
Describe your style as an artist:
My medium is furniture design, mostly wood, marble, and fabric. My style is ever evolving, but I embrace a California modern organic style using only high-quality, locally sourced, eco-friendly materials fashioned by local craftsman into unique furniture designs. My clean, simple, customizable furniture uses modern lines and earth tones to create a timeless look that can pair with many different styles, complimenting other pieces in the home without taking over the room.
Where do you find inspiration?
I find inspiration in travel, seeing different cultures’ architecture and the way they blend materials. I love visiting boutique hotels decorated by well-known designers’, seeing their design up close and touching the furnishings immerses you in their creative process and the vibe they wanted to achieve. I try to surround myself with other creative minds and draw a lot of inspiration from my peers, friends, and family. I also find inspiration on a daily basis in easily accessible online forums and design magazines.
What does your workspace look like?
My work space is my retail store in Santa Monica. It’s not only my office, it’s also my show room for all of my furniture designs and vintage accessories I’ve curated while traveling over the years. It’s a cozy place to meet with clients, with floor to ceiling white oak wood paneling, built-in shelving, and a living room vignette. The overall style is California modern organic with a focus on locally sourced custom designs.
The name Faithful Roots was conceived while visiting the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam, which talks about how Vincent Van Gogh was inspired by the idea of roots being foundational to our own personal aesthetic. Some of my favorite interior designers are Kelly Wearstler, the design firm Studio Lifestyle, and fellow local store and show room Stahl + Band. If you wander into my store you’ll probably hear an eclectic soundtrack of Django Reinhardt, Thievery Corporation, and A Tribe Called Quest.
Where can we find you guys?
You can find most of my work for sale in my retail store at 2640 Lincoln Blvd in Santa Monica, CA, or on my website: faithfulroots.com and for the most up-to-date designs and inspiration, visit my Instagram page @faithfulroots.
What are the next steps in your career?
I want to continue expanding my furniture line, rebrand and rebuild my website, and choosing select retailers across the country to wholesale my designs. I’m very excited for what 2020 has in store and I’m super thankful to all of my clients for supporting me and helping get to where I am today: a successful female business owner and entrepreneur.
