Last weekend, in an attempt to wrangle our friends together for an afternoon of celebration and catching up, we had a baby shower (or more like a sprinkle) at our home in Pasadena, CA. The party was hosted by bestie and Scouted Home co-founder, Brittany, with help from our family who were visiting in town. We wanted the theme to be loosely based on the children's book Where the Wild Things Are, which is fitting for our baby boy, Wilder! Because we were having it at our home and because we'd had a traditional shower for big sister, Reese, we decided to invite the guys along this time. We kept things simple and easygoing - cornhole, craft beers and champagne cocktails helped set the mood for a perfect day!
Custom invitation by Staci Whitworth of Sea & Moon Designs (Staci is also the talent behind our Scouted Home logo). Homemade sugar cookie "crowns" and the most amazingly delicious vegan + gluten-free brownies from Whisk Gluten-Free Bakery.
Keeping with our theme, we made simple paper crowns out of gold paper stock and dressed the house with tons of flowers and greenery we'd picked up earlier that morning from the flower market in downtown LA. Guests wrote sweet messages to Wilder in his Where the Wild Things Are book. (My favorites were the ones from the guys!)
The food was light and refreshing: avocado tartines topped with sprouts and radish// homemade hummus with veggies and pita chips// olive, cheese and grape tray/ peach, mozzarella, basil and balsamic caprese// kale and pomegranate salad with lemon vinaigrette dressing// mimosa bar with peach nectar and pomegranate juice.
We asked friends to bring baby photos of themselves- mostly because we wanted to see how cute they all were as minis, but also to play 'Name that Baby'. To keep things fun and interesting, we threw in a Wilder ultrasound pic and another from another expecting mama at the party!
Aunt Kelsey (above) and GoGo (left) came all the way from Orlando, FL to celebrate with us. The cake from Europane Bakery (a Pasadena favorite for sandwiches, coffee and baked goods) was vanilla, filled and topped with wild berries and garnished with left-over greenery.
It was a great day spent celebrating our family of three, soon to be four... we can't wait to meet you Wilder!!
