We put a cap on 2016 with a family photo session shot by our favorite Los Angeles photographer, Sarah Foss of Apple Rose Photography. Since our first year of marriage, it's been a tradition for Austin and I to send Christmas cards to our closest family, friends and business acquaintances. It's become our thing. Each and every year we enlist Sarah (who's also a dear friend) to help capture whatever idea we have in mind and let me just tell you, she's up for anything! We've done everything from wrapping ourselves up in Christmas lights to riding a tandem bicycle (never again) to donning reindeer antlers in the woods. Without a doubt though, our cards have become a bazillion times cuter now that we have our two little bits.
This year, we decided to do what felt most natural to us- so pj's, cuddles and pancakes at home seemed fitting. We're calling this shoot 'Little Bits of Joy'. Sarah managed to capture our family in a way that feels personal and authentic. She always finds a way to get the sweetest moments that I wouldn't think of... like Reese chugging orange juice and downing pancakes or Wylie peeking over Austin's shoulder (how cute is that?!).
This is the first time we've done an at-home photo session and I really love that one day we'll get the opportunity to look back at our babies and the space we're raising them in. After all, we do spend a lot of time here! This is our family, our home and the best time of our life. It's fun, it's playful, it's us.
As we settle into 2017, we have lots of goals and dreams. There are a ton of things we'd like to accomplish, but number one our list is to embrace the time we have with our littles and all the joy they bring!
