Spending excess time at home can have you looking around at your place, creating a list of things you’d like to improve. With home being our mainly inhabited place for months to come, we understand how important it is to raise your standards for comfort, style, and convenience at home.
Some of our clients, and prospective clients have been wondering how design services are being affected during this time, and we think it’s a really valid question! Since home is our one “safe space” right now, does it make sense to have people coming in and working on it?
The safety of our clients is a top priority here at Scout Modern, so we thought we’d explain in detail what we’re doing to protect our families, and yours!
To get to the point — we’re still offering both full-service and e-design services But, our full-service design does look a little different. We’ve laid out a quick overview of the process for each, just to help bring some clarity of how this could or should look during this time.
Let’s dive in:
For our distance/regular E-Design clients, the process looks a bit like this:
After you fill out our design questionnaire, we will connect via email about what your goals are for the space, and follow up on any additional information we need. It could be measurements, photos or other particulars. We also ask that our e-design clients provide a Pinterest board, so that we can get to your know style, digitally.
We spend time putting together mood boards and room mockups for your home. We combine your preferences, goals and wishes with our design vision, and create something exciting to review together.
We revise and approve, and then provide sources. Once all large items are approved, you can start ordering! We provide links and sources for all items, but ultimately the ordering is in your hands.
Our mockups and moodboards do offer placement guides in the space, and we supply best practices for our clients. For example — “how high should I hang my art?”. We also offer Facetime styling sessions, which can be added onto any e-design package. This would be a real-time walkthrough of the space, offering advice and suggestions for final styling placement, hanging heights and more.
And then you’re done! Your new space is complete, and it’s time to enjoy! If you’re curious about the end-result of an e-design project, take a look at our San Diego E-Design — this was executed perfectly by our client and we’re all overjoyed by how it turned out!
For our Full-Service E-Design clients, the process looks a bit like this:
We will meet with you, digitally, for a consultation. It’s important for us to really get to know you so that we can craft a space that truly feels like home. Normally we would tour the space in person, but for now, videos, photos and Facetimes do. Alliteratively, if the space is somewhere that is not currently being lived in, we are asking that clients open all doors and closets, and we will do a contact-less walkthrough of the space on our own. Either way, it’s important for us to spend time in the space to get an idea of the layout, the flow, and the scope of the project.
After the initial consult and digital/in-person tour, we spend time putting together mood boards for your home - taking some of your inspiration and our design vision, and creating something exciting to review together.
We source. Once the initial mood boards are approved, we get to sourcing and scouting for the items in your updated home.
We order! Once items are approved, we order, schedule shipments, oversee any building, contract work, updates that need to be made.
We style! Once your items have arrived, we also style your home with floral arrangements, textiles (if you’re newly moving in, we can also coordinate and order dishware, towels, and other household necessities), art, plants and a variety of decor to make it feel cozy, homey and personal. This is currently being done in spaces that are not yet inhabited, or while residents are not home.
This is somewhat simplifying the process but we wanted to shed some light on the overall experience, especially during these strange times.
